Does anyone out there have Primary Orthostatic Tremor?

Posted by bevnix @bevnix, 3 days ago

I have Primary Orthostatic Tremor. I have had it since 2013.
I would like to share discussions with others that have this rare disorder.

I was diagnosed with Orthostatic Tremor in 2017 at age 70. It definitely changed my life! Standing is so difficult and stressful. You no doubt experience this as well.

I have FND, Functional Neurological Disorder.
My tremors start when I become stressed, and stop when I distract my brain. I was taught by my neurologist to simply tap my thumb and index finger (on either hand) together. The tremors stop almost immediately.

I don’t know about your disease, but if tapping works that would be awesome

I will try this, anything is worth a try!

Beverly,
I have been progressing also. Every household task is now so challenging. (Example: I just got a load of laundry together and in the washer, and I had to sit down). I have been experiencing leg muscle pain, which is also progressing and happens even when I sit or lie down at night. Our leg muscles are so overworked just trying to keep our balance when standing. I agree with your statement” No one understands because we look fine.”

Yes,
My legs ache now, they didn't the first few years.
I have to sit down for everything!
I have groceries delivered, can't possibly stand in line.
I have tried many meds, nothing works.
