Does this happen suddenly and then go away? My son and I both had a lot of issues with our neuropathy with both our hands and feet (together or separately) where suddenly they would start burning and itching at the same time, turn red with white or purple dots. I discovered at some point that the fix was to really elevate them for a few minutes and it would go away. With hands I would hold my arms straight up like I was signaling for a touchdown until it stopped which usually took about 5 minutes. With feet, I would lie on the bed or floor next to a wall and put my legs straight up against the wall with my feet toward the ceiling otherwise too hard to hold that position for 5 minutes. I hope that works for you too. It’s not always a convenient fix if it happens away from home. I had that happen periodically for about 30-40 years and then for some reason it stopped about 10 years ago even though I still have tons of issues with neuropathy. It started happening to my son when he was 5 so I would have to hold his hands/arms in the air for him. Sometimes we were shopping in a store. That was a sight. It was still happening in his 20s but I haven’t heard him mention it in years. There’s hope!
I’ve had burning feet for years. It seems to mainly be in the evenings now and mostly the ball of my feet and my toes. They turn very red. If I stand and walk a great deal, it also happens. But the evening toe burn shows up even on days when I’ve done very little standing & walking. My issues with this have increased over the years. One thing that offers some relief to me is gel ice boots. Wearing socks, I put the ice packs which are in the shape of short boots, on my feet for 10-15 minutes. You can’t walk in them! I just prop up my feet. If the burning continues, I’ll wait a bit then do it again. It is definitely not a cure but, for me, it does offer some relief. Various foot shaped gel ice packs are available on Amazon.
has anyone tried using nerve pills that contain capsacaine.
Good afternoon I wish I had some good news are a cure I have neuropathy in both feet at the point my toes are numb
It’s got to be something out here for people with neuropathy. It’s got to be something you go to the doctor all they want to slap you on appeal gabapentin bad bad side effects.
I wish there was some treatment. I can't take gabapentin. I use rubs with lidocaine and take turmac, for inflammation. There's got to be more.
Hugs
I use capsaicin .1% cream. It diminishes the pain for 5-8 hours, allowing me walk comfortably. I've also found shoe inserts padded with wool add an extra measure of comfort to my walking.
NEUROPATHY F&M oil..... I have used it for years Sometimes when I wake up during the night with burning feet I'll use it again.. Get it at Walmart or Amazon or other pharmacies.. No prescription needed and it costs around $20 for a small bottle with an eyedropper. You don't have to use it full strength either... I put several drops with a dab of hand cream and rub it on my poor burning red hot feet.. It helps my feet calm down in a few minutes so I can get back to sleep.
Ingredients are Frankincense and Myrrh... yep, like in the bible.. A nurse for diabetes told me about it and demonstrated how fast it worked on my feet one day.. I have been ever thankful...
My suggestion is geared towards people experiencing burning & itching in their feet from neuropathy. I had great success with the RST Sanexas therapy. I had 10 20 minute sessions on the device. I also had B complex injections with each session. It eliminated the burning & itching sensations. Never came back. I still have CIPN but not the buring & itching.
Since being "officially" diagnosed with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy a few months ago, I have been taking , what many say, is a very low dose of gabapentin (300mg). It has helped to relieve my burning feet when I sleep and gives me a pretty good uninterrupted night of sleep.
However I know, after reading so many comments, it doesn't work for everyone. As far as side effects, other than being a little more tired in the morning, I haven't noticed any.
As an aside, when my "highly recommended" neurologist diagnosed me he had nothing to recommend to me for the pain. Everything I have learned about my condition is from sites like this and doing my own research that includes information from the United Kingdom's site: http://www.nhs.uk. That is now one of 7 sites that I go to for my information!
Hi gladysg.... Sometimes I sit in the shower and spray my hot feet with cold water til they cool down.. helps me get back to sleep after a while.
Have you tried the Neuropathy Frankincense & Myrrh oil yet? That works for me, too...
I used the gel ice booties while in California during the summer.. that and keeping my feet raised up on a stool... Stress and hot weather, plus having to be on my feet too long brings on the hot burning red toes etc..
This is not fun at all.. but we just do whatever we find that eases the pain for a while.. Eases, doesn't make it go away tho...
Shucks!!
