Does anyone that uses an Alginate have a dry mouth? I’ve been using Khelp since 4/3 and I have a dry mouth. The doctor does not think it is from reflux or Khelp. I’m being tested for other things. It’s really annoying I brush my teeth several times a day I’m careful about swallowing and food doesn’t taste the same. My tongue is affected the most.

Hmmm, you ask an interesting question @sylvermoon8. You mention starting Khelp a few weeks ago, and now you are experiencing dry mouth/tongue and food tastes have changed. You haven’t mentioned if it seems to have addressed the original symptom/reason you started taking it.

I am not a medically trained person and I have not heard of Khelp. I can tell when I started taking medication that changed my stomach acid it took a bit to find a new normal. I tried to search a bit and find that:
- Khelp contains iodine, and iodine can affect the salivary gland
- Khelp is a supplement that may not be regulated, so varying dosages and intake amounts can vary

As you wait for others to comment you may find it valuable to browse other discussions related to your concerns. If you are not familiar with searching, simply go to the Connect home page and type perhaps, ‘reflux dry mouth’ into the search box.

Here is an overview from Mayo Clinic about dry mouth if you have not had a chance to review yet:

Are you managing other health conditions, maybe thyroid? Have you made other medication changes lately? How much Khelp are you taking, and how often?
