Does anyone have any questions about papillary thyroid cancer?
I am a 25 year survivor of papillary thyroid cancer and have been volunteering for many years answering many questions from people who have papillary thyroid cancer and have questions about it. I would be happy to answer any questions from people who have concerns about thyroid cancer.

You know I read your comment and I’m kind of a very nervous person and I would probably feel like you do but I’m guessing if you were really really worried a lot find a really good thyroid cancer doctor. I would bring a list of questions not too big just a very most important situation‘s that are bothering you the most. It’s amazing that when you find out everything is very good you will feel so much better because I know myself I would get worried about every single thing. my very best wishes to you going forward!!!

2 ReactionsI was diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma in August, 2023 and had a total thyroidectomy in October, 2023. 4.4cm nodule in right thyroid lobe, encapsulated, no lymph involvement. Thyroid bed clear after surgery. Had an ultrasound November, 2025 that noted a nonspecific 5mm nodule in right thyroid bed. Stressing about what this means because I was told I was low risk for recurrence and it could be scar tissue. I also had a low dose of RAI in April 2024. I thought that was supposed to get rid of any remnants of tissue and cells? Finding it hard to wait until May, 2026 for next ultrasound.

1 Reaction@ransom2026, I think you'll find this Mayo Clinc article helpful:
- High-dose vitamin C: Can it kill cancer cells? https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/cancer/expert-answers/alternative-cancer-treatment/faq-20057968
Excerpt:
"There's still no evidence that vitamin C alone can cure cancer, but researchers are studying whether it might boost the effectiveness of other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, or reduce treatment side effects."
More and more cancer centers and oncology specialists are open to discussing and integrating complementary medicine in programs called Integrative Medicine or Integrative Oncology. Integrative medicine can guide you to supplements, therapies and approaches that help manage cancer treatment lasting side effects. Integrative medicince is offered at many cancer centers of excellence, including Mayo Clinic.

@tessma, if you would like to seek a second opinion at Mayo Clinic, here's how to get started https://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
Is your care team suggesting further treatment?

2 ReactionsHi, I am 22 and just had hemi done. Had left lobe and isthmus removed bc of two nodules classic papillary type. Clear margins no angio invasion. But left worried because there was lymphatic invasion. Thoughts? They are going to wait and watch it.
