Is he taking something like tums a lot? The more he takes the more problems he's going to have and dyspepsia is probably not the right diagnosis for all his symptoms, and misery.
I take one 40m pill of Zantac once per day. I have pain in the pit of my stomach and constant nausea. I don’t feel stomach acid at all. Have not found anything that helps with the nausea. Doctors are still doing testing attempting to find the cause of the Dyspepsia.
Hello,
I'm not sure how old you are, but you might need an EGD or an abdominal CT to see what's going on. If those tests are normal, you might have functional dyspepsia which is treated with dietary changes, PPI's, and anxiety/stress management.
If you are taking an acid reducing medications and they are not working, you're either not taking them correctly or you don't have an acid issue. Some people with GERD or stomach acid issues can be worse on PPI's when they don't have enough acid in the GI system.
Dyspepsia is more than just nausea. It's also burning in upper GI, constant belching to relieve the indigestion, bloating, and an uncomfortable feeling usually in the upper GI. Are you have these symptoms also?
I’m 72. Only symptoms is nausea and pain in the pit of my stomach. No burning, belching or anything like that so I don’t think I have an acid issue. I will ask my doctor about a CT and EGD. Thank you.
Have you tried Pepcid? I have chronic acid and it's hard to figure out. I've also heard of having too little acid, which can feel like too much, and taking gastrin for that.
Try an antacid. Excess stomach acid can cause nausea.
I’m taking a prescription antacid and still have nausea.
What meds have you been prescribed or OTC meds do you take?

Now they have me on Haloperidol and Amitriptyline for nausea but not working.
I’m also taking Zantac.
