Does anyone get small hard chucks, not spit or mucus in the morning?
I was diagnosed with COPD 8 years ago. My first pulmonologist started me on oxygen therapy and Trelegy. He left the area so I was without a doctor for a while and I was able to find another doctor in a bigger city after a couple years. He took me off of everything and has me on Stilolto Respimat inhaler once in the morning. For a while now when I get up morning the I have hard chunks, it’s not spit or mucus that comes up. I also have Sleep Apnea. Wondering if this happens to anyone else.
Regards, Karen

I don’t have copd but have bronchitis and a former smoker a long time ago.
Are you taking anything that helps thin mucus? Do you drink a lot of water/stay well hydrated and use a humidifier? Do you do lung physiotherapy?

I have a lot of sputum and at times it is hard thick chunks. I have copd, lung cancer and because of my extreme cough and so much sputum they ran sputum tests for bacterial and fungal. I have something called mycobacterium abscessus. It is something that people with other respiratory issues can get from soil, water, medical equipment. It is a non- tuberculosis non contagious infection in your lungs. There are many species of this. It is very difficult to treat and treatment can last for more than a year and very difficult to cure. You have to be treated with3-4 toxic antibiotics for long periods of time. Look up NTM infections and MAC lung disease infections. Not saying you have any of this but it may be worth getting your Dr to run sputum tests. Even with lung cancer and copd I never had the symptoms I do now until I got this mycobacterium infection. I have a lot more shortness of breath, wheezing, and sputum than I did before this awful infection
Thank you I have been drinking more water never been one to drink much.
I too am a former smoker, quit about 15 years ago. I walk a least 2 miles a day, when the weather is better 4 miles. Thank you for the information I’ll definitely be looking into it. Medical care in our county is terrible so we travel a few hours to see specialist. Thank you for input
Thank you I will definitely be asking my pulmonologist about these tests. When I was first diagnosed with COPD they tested me certain mold infections which I was treated for. I need to look back and see which ones that were. Sorry for all of you issues
Be very serious about the water . It is the most important thing you need to do . I wish you good days ahead . Blessed Be , Crystalena. ( I add pictures at random)
I would be curious as to what mold infections you were treated for
I’ve been trying to find it my health chart but can’t find. When I do I’ll let you know. Regards
Ok thanks
