Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

I also love my Hokas, but they are pricey. Here is a clearance option to cut the price a bit. https://www.nordstromrack.com/search?origin=keywordsearch&keyword=Hokas

Since I’m new here, apparently I’m not allowed to post links. So I’ll send you a picture. Haven’t tried any of these as yet. But it’s from today.com

Hoka Series 8 are the best ones for Neuropathy because they have very stiff soles but are soft inside. They really help to feel the ground. Yes, they are expensive but worth it for the results. Also, get the speed laces so you can put them on & off without bending.

In reply to @ lorirenee1 am mostly in constant pain. I have worn Crocs for all 15 years of idiopathic PN. Now getting uncomfortable and have cusios in or furry lined and the size keeps getting larger. Try them they were and could be ideal for you.

I have Orthofeet shoes and winter boots that I like very much. They come in xtra wide sizes. I recently bought a pair of Dansko, wide shoes. They’re a waterproof walking shoe, not the fun slip ons we see nurses wearing. I was able to wear them comfortably for whole days on a recent trip, and since they’re dark navy, they don’t look like a sneaker.

I have found Dansko to be helpful.

Yikes! 622 posts! I've tried skimming through them looking for a recommendation for a good (not too, too terribly expensive) pair of zero-drop, slip-in shoes that can accommodate orthotics for general wear, around the house, and perhaps outdoors. If anyone has been keeping a careful watch on these posts and could suggest a good pair, I'd be much, much, much appreciative! I'm a guy with idiopathic PN: no pain (thank goodness!), but terrible balance and a wobbly, wobbly walk. Thanks much! ––Ray (@ray666)

Ray, a shoe store known for orthopedics fitted me with shoes from Brooks with a big "toe box."
Specifically their model "Addiction GTS 15" size medium (D). It accommodates my orthopedic foot brace. If you phone the Brooks company, they can tell you which styles have a large toe box. The shoe cost a lot ($180??), but I have worn it 3+ years.

Hi, bluesky222. Brooks Addiction is my favorite shoe, or it was until my PN got a hold. Brooks Addiction was recommended to me about 15 years ago by my Bouder podiatrist, and if you're familiar with Boulder, you might guess that my podiatrist had quite a clientele in the running community. I wore nothing but Brooks addiction until my TKR, which spelled the end of my running days. I've tried Brooks Addition since, just as a walking shoe, but now that I have PN, I find the Brroks are too heavy. They're still superior shoes, however! –Ray

Sorry to hear the Addiction won't work for you. My neuropathy is somewhat like yours: No pain, idiopathic (wish I knew why!) with terrible balance. And getting worse. UGH!
