Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

I only wear new balance. They just work for me. I have tried others and just go back to them. I have 5 pairs and no I don't work for them :-).

I've had chemo related neuropathy since June 2020. I've been happy with my Sketchers, but recently I bought a few pairs of New Balance for long walks. The reason for this is not only neuropathy but osteoarthritis that has worsened a bit. I feel the extra support of the athletic shoe may be necessary for longer excursions. I'll keep wearing my Sketchers for daily wear activities, and I even scored a beaded pair that I recently wore to a wedding.

I have neuropathy without pain but with significant balance issues. Among various shoes that I have tried, I have found that New Balance 860 works best for me. All their better shoes are comfortable, but the 860 has additional stability built in that helps significantly with my balance issues.

@Guythomas
Just curious, do the 860’s have a roll bar,
I like the 990’s & 1540’s & SAS. For me I liked the original NB 990’s best. I have the version 5 now.

I don’t know the exact term, but they do have a bar in the heel for more stability. I have tried the 990 and the 1540, but they don’t work as well for me. All feet are different!

I bought some Hoka’s. They support and cushion. Back on my feet!

I have neuropathy in my feet and ankles. Painful to walk sometimes. I use Orthofeet shoes. They take the pressure off my feet which helps ease the pain. I have even tried using arch support inserts to help even more although with my flat feet the inserts can be a bit much.

Orthofeet shoes have worked for me.

I'm using the shoes they sell for going into the water. They look like regular sneakers. Bought them on Amazon. Super soft and wide. the other think that helps me a lot with my both feet neuropathies are the support thigh socks, I even sleep with them!

Hoka and On Cloud sneakers.
Thorlo tennis socks.
Expensive, but worth it.

Buy socks first. Try shoes on with Thorlo socks. Socks are padded and you may need to buy shoe one half size larger.

I have ordered bought and returned so many shoes including Orthofeet, Horkas, Skeetchers. When ordering toebox width is seldom available so I have to return another pair. Am currently wearing New Balance which I’ve worn for cpl years. My problem is I need WIDE toebox. Everything squeezes my bilateral PN and causes freezing/burning cold pain. I’ve even tried men’s hoping…but if they are wide enough then they are too big. Often just wear my Rock Dove slippers but rather not drive in them. Anybody know of WIDE toe box shoe that won’t break the bank? Appreciate suggestions.
