Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

Hi, @itsmeagain

That's an excellent way of underscoring how each PN suffers array of symptoms is almost always unique (" … in bed my feet feel as though they are in shoes-very tight ones"). When I'm in bed, my feet feel fine, "normal," you could can. My chief problem when it comes to walking about (and what shoes might be of help) are my knees: too often when I'm walking my knees feel like they have the rigidity of playdough, all wishy-washy, ready to send me tumbling in most any direction at any moment.

I'm glad you were able to figure out what I said. I'll usually give what I've written a quick proof-read, but others I'll just tap Reply, trusting I'd not made too many typos. But when I look over my words after they've been posted––OMG! I have to blame it on some devilish A.I. "helper." If I knew that was it, and if there were a way to "fire" my helper, I would. At least you know I'm not relying on A.I. 🙂

Hi, Jake (@jakedduck1)

Orthotics in barefoot shoes? I've the same question. I've heard yes and no, depends on the shoe. I'm just going to wait and see when my new zero drop shoes arrive if I'm able to insert my orthotics. I'd like toe able to, but if I can't, I'll give the shoes a fair trial anyway. If you're like me, after decades of wear, good orthotics and happy joints go hand in hand. I'll keep you posted!

Cheers!

@ray666 Try them without orthotics first - the idea of barefoot is it forces the muscles in your feet to do a little work instead of being effortlessly cradled in an orthotic.... and give it more than a day or two 🙂 I have been wearing them inside and outside for more than a year and they make a difference for me!

I got neuropathy induced from chemotherapy and all the shoes I had I couldn’t wear felt like I was walking on crumbled rocks or smthg and hurt i basically wore memory foam house shoes indoor/outdoor was helpful then when i needed to drive again coz it had been over a year since i drove my car i found i needed a shoe that would stay on my feet while driving coz my house shoe would fall off when i lifted my foot to the brake each time and made it unsafe for me to drive . But later I found out that my hey dude shoes stayed on like I needed and I can walk in them too. I have no problem walking in them and my feet was killing me before.. and my feet swell ever sense I had cancer surgery or maybe it’s from the neuropathy idk which never thought to ask but they definitely feel better to me . Anyway just sharing what I found comfortable for my feet .

I just purchased my second pair of Barefoot shoes. I personally love them. My feet just seem to relax once I get them on, and occasionally I wear them to bed when the pain gets so bad. I find they are a wonderful company to work with.

I am from the UK, I’ve tried various shoes including the bar barefoot bottom line. You just have to try them all and see what works for you. I’ve for myself preferring to wear flat shoes that have a high in step front as my toes no longer work to keep shoes on. I hope I’ve described that properly. You can if you search really hard find shoes that are both workable for your neuropathy with a little bit of style good luck
