I’m sorry you are feeling this way and your experience has been so difficult and challenging. Please don’t give up. You asked so I will share that I have felt that if I have another vertebral fracture, that I would give up. It was so painful I am not certain I could go through it again. Every one is so individual, I have read that it’s possible to not know you have a compression fracture! We all respond so differently to the medications, it is tough to compare experiences. Please know that you are not alone, we are all fearful at times over this condition. Take some of the great advice here that sounds doable to you. Keep connected and do ask your questions. We want to help and support you.
Thank you for your advice . I would have thought I could get past my hesitation but I think I
Will remain on Alendronate and wait until I get another bone scan to decide the ne t step.
Was diagnosed at 50 with osteo in right hip & left hip following in hot pursuit. By 2020 (age 74) it has progressed to include both hips, both knees, lower spine and other complications, ie> arthritis, osteo arthritis, etc. Was sent to endocrinologist who ran dexa scan & put on myriad of drugs; ie> alendronate, Calcium, D, B mix something, etc. etc. Within weeks I could barely walk, more & severe back pain than ever, loss of 1/2 hair. Stopped taking everything & all doctors save my Primary; that strongly advised Prolia shots 2x pr year. Did due diligence & research & said no. Currently (79 in June) my drug input is: Alleve, Allegra, Gingko, 1 pr day. The Osteo now includes: Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Bursitis, in both knees, both hips (but primarily right hip) lower spine. I have enjoyed, by the Grace of God & my gene pool, significantly good health in my "Golden Years" & therefore am an extremely bad patient. I abhor being in pain & the restrictions in provides. Still active but not like 50 or 60. Can still do 2/3 hrs of physical labor in yard ( with double doses of Alleve). My affliction is genetic; Mom, Grandmother, lll Aunts, Uncles, etc etc. Suggestions pls? OTC recommended? Thank you
I don't have all the ailments you have. I am sorry you have so many. I downloaded the DownDog Yoga app a few years ago. Doing restorative yoga has surprisingly helped my aches and pains. I got bursitis from walking dogs in my dog walking business. Walking dogs that pulled, twisted my pelvis. I was always in pain until I did the restorative yoga. I was extremely inflexible but have become more flexible and in less pain. I can't believe the difference it has made!
I am trying to get inflammation in my body as low as I can get it through diet and exercise. That might help you.
I wish you the best. Karen
I feel for anyone having trouble. I did the reclast infusions for 5 years and luckily i didnt have any trouble … now years later im doing the evenity shots. I get the part where some of you want to give up, because thats the way i feel. Im 6 months in getting ready for my 7th set soon and i have been suffering with neuropathy. I had a nerve block done but it didnt work. I didnt have this nerve pain until i started the shots. Its become very debilitating.. im sad alot and i get very depressed. If my bones weren’t so bad id quit so im just trying to manage it.
My T score is -3.9..
