Does anyone else have experience with a symptomatic arachnoid cyst?
I developed symptoms around the area of my arachnoid cyst (pain and pressure, sometimes to the point of throwing up) when I was 21. Now I am 70, and the symptoms have become almost debilitating. I've never been able to get the medical establishment to take the cyst seriously because arachnoid cysts are only rarely symptomatic. The neuro-surgeon simply denied that the cyst is causing the symptoms. But it seems too coincidental to me that the symptoms have always been at the exact spot of the cyst. So I wondering what other people's experiences are with this.

My son's 35 years old it took me 3 days to have him in labor My body wouldn't do anything on its own so I wouldn't even dilate after medication so I only got to about a five and the nurse and my niece pushed him out of me and when he came out finally he flew out of me and the doctor missed him and he fell on the table landed on the table he was in ICU for 2 weeks but he had a conehead his temperature was too low high his heartbeat was too high and I assumed they did all necessary testing at that time and about a year and a half later he had a seizure and it woke me up that's how bad the seizure was and he had high fever so I took him to the hospital to MRI discovered the cyst on the left temporal lobe of his brain from that point on he saw a neurologist every 3 months 6 months in a year and he would have night terrors waking up screaming Just screaming and sweating I told the neurologist about it they discounted it they said that it wasn't causing any problems and the last time I had an MRI done on him he was 18 at that time he was showing like slight signs of maybe ADD but they did testing on him and they denied it they said there was no pressure on the brain everything was fine when he hit about in between 23 and 25 I started notice and things but at the time he was doing drugs so I kind of did discount that it was a symptom but I wasn't sure now he's 35 years old he's been in and out of the system all this time since the age 25 to now He's his symptoms have worsened and nobody listens he was jumped and beat up real bad in prison I let the prison know that he had arachnoid cyst on his brain they ruled it out as a non-malignant tumor and he never even got to see a neurologist when he got out he was totally different he was delusional hallucinations sign just schizophrenia here in voices paranoia he would have what I call episodes where he would get angry and walk around with knives and things like that and I can't get anybody to listen his attorney has finally this attorney got an MRI done but they still haven't read the results and they're trying to push his trial they're trying to convict him for life and I'm going to tell you now the symptoms are they changed sometimes he he used to tell me he could feel something moving in his head and you know all the doctors are always saying it's nothing it's nothing has nothing to do with the cyst but there is a lot of information now that they are starting to recognize that they can be symptomatic and the symptoms that people are telling them can be psychiatric related to the cyst and pain and things like that I would get a second opinion from a different neurologist somebody that is specializing in that field maybe at the UCLA if there's one near you that you can go to there are specialists just for arachnoid cyst and also if you go on PM med and look up arachnoid cysts in the area of your brain they will also have posts and articles from psychologists and doctors and surgeries and things like that and you might be able to get some information there I don't know I've never been able to get anybody to listen to me and I know damn well that his mental health has been damaged due to that cyst and nobody does nothing it should have been drained as soon as it was symptomatic same with yours Just the throwing up all by itself is part of the symptom from an arachnoid cyst so I'm sorry it's taking this many years and I hope it doesn't take me this many years to get somebody to listen about my son Good luck
