Does anyone else experience hot burning skin as symptom of Neuropathic
The only symptom I have of neuropathic pain is a hot brewing sensation similar to a very bad sunburn. At this point in time, I don’t know what the cause is. I do have a pinched nerve in my back however, I’ve had that for a long time. The pain is quite bad.

On what part of your body do you experience this "hot brewing sensation'?
I had hot burning skin intermittently on certain places on my body for a short time, although I’m not sure why. My doctors have offered several theories. It seems to have dissipated.
Hello @wmacgill11, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @mikead63, @celia16 and others. You are not alone with the burning symptoms for neuropathy. You might want to scan through the following related discussion to read what others have shared:

Have you seen a neurologist or spine specialist to see if the nerve compression from the pinched nerve may have gotten worse?
This could definitely be neuropathy. I have this pain like a sunburn for several years
long after my first symptoms appeared. My first symptoms were a feeling on the bottom
of my foot that felt as if I had cardboard stuck to it. Didnt tell anyone for years because I
was afraid they would think I was crazy
I had that experience and was prescribed Narcotics in large amounts that I took for years. It made it tolerable but didn't necessarily improve anything. I was switched to Suboxone which caused me to experience extreme withdrawal symptoms. The burning symptoms disappeared and I discontinued everything. It's been almost 2 years and the burning sensation has not re-surfaced. I've learned to tolerate the tingling and numbness. It is thought that the opioids were the problem. It's disappointing there are really no effective treatments for this.
The hot burning sensation is from my scalp to my lower back and on the front to my waistline
No I have not / my Dr only suggested neuropathic pain as the possible cause. Later this month, I do have an appointment with the pain management clinic. So hopefully I will know more by then. Thank you for your help.
Thank you that is exactly how I felt with the sunburn is the way I describe it and also I was hesitant to mention it to my doctor because I wasn’t sure what they might think. I’m so grateful for this group. I know it will help me.
A bad sunburn is the EXACT description I told my neurologist! My sensations occur on the tops of both feet, my right outside thigh, and the back of my waist on the right side. It started on my feet in 2017, and moved to my thigh and waist in 2018. I stopped counting how many health practitioners I paid. I use ice packs to counteract the heat sensations. If I never stop moving, I'm fine, so I'm thankful that I can find some relief. So far, I'm also able to sleep well. After finding this group (and finally learning the term "small fiber neuropathy"), I'm trying to eliminate dark chocolate from my diet (which I was consuming more of since 2016.) After one month, I still have the heat sensations, but I'm going to give it another month or so. Best wishes to you.
No specialist yet; my family Dr is confident it’s nerve pain. Next week I see a pain management Dr. I will keep in mind your suggestion and that will be my next steps. Thanks to everyone for your comments. I feel better knowing I’m not alone/ I’m still getting g use to this forum so if I forget to thank everyone or fail to reply I will get better.
