Does anyone have both peripheral neuropathy and venous insufficiency?

Posted by arflmi33 @arflmi33, Jan 22, 2025

As of now I have been diagnosed with both peripheral neuropathy and venous insufficiency, both in lower legs. Does anyone else have both of these? Can these two be related? Does this affect what treatment lotions (e.g. magnesium) can be used for the neuropathy? Is there any causal relationship of one to the other? Sorry for so many questions. This is kind of overwhelming at at the moment.

THANK YOU! I tried the folding once long ago but I'll give it another try.

The Duluth socks I'm using are 15-20 units of compression graduated from zero at the foot up the lower leg. My sock comes up to just below my knee so I think I have the right size.

I'm glad my long description of the folding method helped you. My compression socks are only 10-15 units so that makes it a bit easier to get them on. The important measurement is around your calf. Check the Duluth socks chart (if there is one) to be sure the socks you purchased are the right measurement. It they're too small around the calf, it would be much harder to get them on! The length is correct if they come up to just below your knee. I'm only 5 feet tall so I had to find socks that come in "short".

@jjfremont You are very young; I am 80 and my right leg nerves are damaged beyond repair, according to an EMG test. My foot is dropped and my balance is terribly bad. Neurotherapy is helping but I don't see my condition improving.
