Do you have an inspiring or favorite quote to share?

I'll start with three quotes from the very inspiring Helen Keller as noted in "Your Year of Healing" book by Amit Sood, MD:

"Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it."

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched -- they must be felt with the heart."

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."

There is one thing I keep in mind and have said a couple times, that I'm not old, I've just been here longer. Clearly to someone younger of course.

"You can put up with anything** for 5 minutes."
(or 10, or 15 minutes- whatever works for you in that moment.)

My therapist helped me develop this phrase to use:

when I am stuck and can't get motivated to do anything/

when my head is in a whirl and I can't decide what to do next/

when I am afraid to tackle a problem/task (e.g., opening medical bills).
I have had a lot of irrational anxiety post-Covid. This phrase has helped me cope.

* * I do NOT use this to deal with chronic pain. It works ok with short-term pain, like an injection or blood draw.

A stitch in time saves nine! Well this was an old saying regarding sewing up/mending something with needle and thread right away, before it got larger
...however, perhaps Mayo Doctors also use this saying ? 🙂

Dodinsky quotes:

--The key to being happy is knowing you have the power to choose what to accept and what to let go.

--Be there for others, but never leave yourself behind.

--To strengthen the muscles of your heart, the best exercise is lifting someone else's spirit whenever you can.

--We are like the little branch that quivers during a storm, doubting our strength and forgetting we are the tree—deeply rooted to withstand all life’s upheavals.
