I recently had shoulder surgery on my left shoulder 4 weeks ago and have been experiencing dizzy spells every time i get up and walk around, the only time it goes away is when i sit or lay down is this normal or?

I don’t know what is normal. Of course check with your doctor. I have had this happen after surgery in the past. In my case it was vertigo and two visits to a physical therapist that was trained in vertigo treatment got things back to normal. They thought it was being positioned in a different way for an hour or more that moved the crystals in the ear which can cause it. The other thing I had this time was dizziness standing up, but my blood pressure is now lower that usual.
Your primary care doctor or or post op surgical visit should help with this.

I would start with blood work. My friend had a shoulder replacement, & had a similar experience as you're having. Her blood work revealed severe anemia, despite the fact her orthopedist said the surgery did not involve much blood loss. She received a transfusion, and has had no problems since.
