@collierga I'm sorry this happened to you. Fractures of the foot and ankle can be very painful. It does help to elevate the leg above your heart any time you have swelling that increases pain. I went through this with a bad ankle fracture 2 years ago. Also, my husband had a stress fracture of a metatarsal and the podiatrist put him into a walking boot. If you have that and walk with it, make sure the heel height of the other shoe matches because otherwise you stress something else. That uneven height caused an Achiles tendon partial tear for my husband, then he got a boot on the other leg until that healed. It could throw your pelvis off too out of alignment which in turn affects the back. If it is a bigger fracture, you might be getting a fiberglass cast.

My ankle fracture required surgery and I hope you don't have to do that. This requires patience... lots of it, but there will be better days ahead. Will you let us know what your doctor advises?

@collierga It sounds like you are on the mend now, and no surgery is a blessing. No pain is also wonderful and so soon after the fracture. I would think you will have a good recovery with this, but remember to take it easy. I think you will do well with healing.
