Discontinuation of Mounjaro
I have been doing excellent on Mounjaro. When I began my A1C was 10.8 and now has dropped to 5.4 after being on it for a year. I also have heart issues and ckd. This year I am having to change insurance due to mine leaving our state. There are only two plans available for my area and doctors. Unfortunately upon research I have learned that I will be dropped from Mounjaro because the a1c of 5.4 is no longer considered diabetic. So, praise God that is much better. Now, I am terrified that the a1c will skyrocket again when it's discontinued in January. I am also concerned that the 25 pounds I lost will return. Is there any way to keep the a1c under control and the weight off when this is stopped? Previously I was on Metformin, Jardiance, Insulin and Glipizide before starting Mounjaro. Any advice from anyone?

I am laughing very hard right now about your hoping the weather is bright here. It's actually storming very hard but I'm still happy since it takes both rain and sun to make rainbows. Thank you for creating a happy moment for me. 🙂 Glad that it's a bright blue sky and sunny there. Enjoy it and may you have many more. 🙂
Hello
My husband was doing quite well when taking MUNJARO n losing weight n looked healthy
He didn’t change his diet but continued to “graze” throughout the day
Due to a sky rocket change in price we can no longer afford it
Within 2 weeks or less his belly fat came right back n fast!
It was amazing how his stomach so quickly it just started looking like “dough” (do not mean to be hurtful)
The skin under his chin had become tight n no more hanging skin he looked sharp but that too came right back
Now that we’re both 65 and switching to Medicare we hope that MUNJARO will be partially covered. I know nothing about Medicare
I have type 2 diabetes n tried ozempic several years ago n got violently sick n got off
Then my endocrinologist suggested I try MUNJARO but I got sick too not as sick as ozempic n decided I did not want to depend on anything but a change in eating habits n healthy exercise to help control my diabetes n weight
Hi whenpigsfly1961 - Love your screen address name. With diabetes Medicare will probably cover the cost of Mounjaro but definitely get the supplemental with the Medicare. I do understand the rapid weight gain when off of Mounjaro after being on it and losing the weight. After 5 weeks off all of the medicine all of the weight came back that I had lost except for 7 pounds. My A1c skyrocketed and it felt totally horrible. Now, after being back on Mounjaro and increasing the doses slowly, the A1c is beginning to come back down. It's taken a month for each dose to be raised from the beginning levels. I've not lost any of the weight yet but I'm still hoping. My Endocrinologist is wanting to raise me to 10 next to get the A1c more in control. I'm wishing you and your husband the best. If you want some good information regarding the medication Mounjaro then buy the book called Enough. It is extremely informative and I have learned quite a bit from reading it. Also, go onto the Medicare.gov website and there is some information regarding Medicare and the program. That would be the best place to start. I'm cheering you and your husband on from here. Have a great day.
