Endoscopic Discectomy with FX*

Posted by dfdelacio @dfdelacio, Jan 21, 2023

Has anyone had any experience with this procedure? It’s minimally invasive surgery.

I had endoscopic discectomy with fx* on my L4 & L5 on January 10th and I am still experiencing severe pain and numbness from the middle of my back down to the middle of my left thigh. The pain is excruciating and constant even with the use of pain medication!
I would love to hear from someone who has had experience with this procedure!

@dfdelacio Have you contacted your surgeon about the pan management? You are only 11 days post op, and some of this pain might be expected from inflammation after this surgery. Sometimes pain symptoms can also overlap from other conditions. I also noticed that in prior posts, you described a similar pain and had a hip replacement on the same side. Is the pain you have now similar or different from that prior surgical issue?

Are you able to get relief using ice packs? Did you have complete relief from the prior surgery? I know that may seem like an odd question, but surgery creates scar tissue which can get tight and cause pain. I know this myself because I am a cervical spine surgery patient, and I stretch my neck now and then to release tightness from the surgical path. Right after surgery would not be the right time to try that because your incision needs to heal first, or you would be pulling it apart. Perhaps in a few months, you could look at myofascial release as a treatment if you are still in pain at that time.
