Did anyone have a SAVI SCOUT marker placed prior to surgery?

I was diagnosed with DCIS stage 0, grade 3, ER & PR positive in my left breast in 2 areas 3 months ago. My surgery is scheduled for August 20. This Thursday, I'm having a SAVI SCOUT marker placed and wondered if anyone who has had this done can tell me if it's inserted the same way they insert a marker for a standard breast biopsy.....face down, breast positioned in a hole in the table, etc.?
Thanks community!

I had 3 placed in my 2 lumps and one lymph July. 19th and don't even have a date for surgery yet. Not seeing surgeon til Aug. 8th ,next week. I was on my back when it was done. No pain. Very similar to biopsy and standard markers. I understand it's a smaller needle.

Thank you for your response. I'm glad there's no pain. The Lidocaine shot is not very pleasant. Once I saw my surgeon and reconstructive plastic surgeon, my surgery date was a little less than 4 weeks out. You will be there soon! Best wishes.

I had mine two days before surgery. For me was very similar to biopsy, I was seated.

Hello @rylee2019. I did have a Savi Scout (was pretty nervous about it prior). My doctor prescribed me with Lidocaine Cream I think it was 2.5% and told me to put it on the entire area an hour prior to the procedure. I did this and I honestly did not feel anything, including the needle for the shot. It helped immensely to the point I remember thinking that was not near as bad as I thought it would be.

I was seated when they did the Savi Scout on the microcalcifications (done with mammogram) and ultrasound for the Savi scout on my mass. Both were much easier than the stereotactic biopsy for sure.

Praying for you.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I had two biopsies prior to this point in my journey and one of them, the one that was closest to my nipple, was very uncomfortable when the needle with Lidocaine was injected. It sounds like the SAVI SCOUT might be a much easier process.

I'll soon find out.

Yes I did prior to surgery and it was easy and not painful. MUCHHH better than biopsy! I was terrified and it wasn't bad at all.

I had a Scout placement done 3 days before my lumpectomy. I had a biopsy done 5 months prior and the Scout placement was pretty simple compared to the biopsy. I sat at a mammography machine while they determined the correct location. The lidocaine shot was just a pinch and I felt nothing else. Good luck!

I too had the Save Scouts placed in my breasts and it was very easy. I had bi-lateral breast cancer with lumpectomies on both sides. The thing that I was unprepared for was the post-surgery soreness/discomfort under my arms where they went in to check the lymph nodes. I'm only saying this because I wasn't prepared for this. I wish you an easy surgery and recovery. You got this!

That’s what I had, a type clip like a piece of rice inserted during biopsy, I just gave them permission it made a little click, and that was it, face down yes
