Chronic diarrhea after stomach surgery for ulcer in 1980

Possibly an idea for others suffering from chronic diarrhea and resultant weight loss after Gastric bypass surgery (in 1980 for a bleeding ulcer). I was OK after my recovery period until my early to mid 60s. Never got any relief from several Gastro Drs, dieticians, etc but finally read here about someone suggesting Apple Cider Vinegar (only the unpasteurized and NON filtered type) and it APPEARS to be helping- along with Imodium AD. More details upon request. George

Update on my diarrhea 'cure'
After readying about how NATURAL Apple cider vinegar seemed to aid in digestion, I tried it and felt an improvement for a week or so, but, now it seems to be returning to its original state. I also read more about some of the dangers and it seems that its NOT recommended for someone that has had radical bypass surgery in 1980 for an ulcer.

Iam now 70, and have lost weight and had chronic diarrhea for nearly 2 years. Had bleeding ulcer surgery 1980 (basically a bypass) and was OK for decades after a moderate recovery. When I started having digestive issues and some weight loss 3 yrs ago, a colonoscopy showed Colitis, so I was on Budesinide for a year w/no real improvements. and HAVE BEEN GOING CRAZY WITH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I CAN AND CANT EAT! Recently I tried Apple Cider Vinegar and it seemed to work for about 10 days, but then it just waned- and I read that it was not recommended for someone that had ulcers. I knew it was not proven but I had nothing to lose. But, that made me go BACK and read read read MORE about this issue and even though I thought I knew everything about what I should eat, it turns out I was missing some really basic stuff! I've always been a health food type of guy, and a vegetarian (still ate fish and dairy) for nearly 30 years (had to stop that w/weight loss, so now added chicken but NO DAIRY). It seems that my habit of eating 100% whole wheat bread, never peeling potatoe skins or Apple peels, eating banannas, adding wheat bran to various foods etc was at least some of my problem, but Im pretty sure that I've become Lactose Intolerant as well. I have switched to Aldis Sough Dough white bread (no fiber but gut healthy) and cut out most anything I can think of that has NON SOLUABLE FIBER. Im focusing on soluble fiber. Steel cut oats (no sugar- Stevia instead), still no dairy, but I hope to get back on Greek Yogurt for the protein and fat. Plenty of eggs, plant based sausage, Tofu, Chicken etc. Its not been long enough to claim victory, but, I feel better and will update as time passes. George in NC mts.
