diabetic neuropathy. STIMPOD TREATMENT suggested. Anyone had it?

Posted by babsee @babsee, 13 hours ago

Am a type 1 Diabetic for 44 years. Pain started in feet and now reached top of thighs. Getting more severe daily. Can't get more than 5 hours sleep, and pain affecting my ability to think clearly. Local Physiotherapist has suggested treatment twice a week with a STIMPOD DEVICE. Anyone used it. Have tried all the pills, I think, and only relief with Codeine - 60 - 75 mg. at 11p.m.
Thanks for an answer. Barbara S.

I’m not familiar with that treatment, but I hope others are familiar with it. Have you tried Gabapentin? Can you describe what the pain is like? Do you know what has caused it? How are your blood sugar levels? I’m type T1 for over 25 years.

Hello @babsee, I did a search of Connect and didn't find any comments about StimPod therapy but did see a research article on the device that might be helpful.

"...STIMPOD NMS460), which is a low-frequency (10 Hz or less) transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) device with a pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) component."

I did find a couple of members comments on using a low frequency TENS device that might be helpful - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/

Sounds amazing, I would try it, I googled it.
Stimpod therapy (specifically NMS460) is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment using Pulsed Radiofrequency (PRF) and nerve stimulation to treat neuropathic pain, nerve dysfunction, and chronic pain. It acts as a "nerve reboot" by targeting specific nerves to reduce inflammation, improve nerve function, and promote cellular healing without medication or surgery. Treatment Process: A probe is used to locate the irritated nerve using electrical stimulation. Once found, PRF is applied to modulate the nerve. =Pulsed Radiofrequency (PRF).

Interesting

I have a Tens unit at home and it is useful, Imagine direct nerve pulse tho sounds even better!, my grandfather had a portable he'd strap on and just had to press a button when needed, he said it worked well too. No one wants surgery so yes I would try anything before that for sure!
