Diabetes and colitis

Posted by karenps @karenps, 4 days ago

I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and colitis, both a result of the immunotherapy treatment for breast cancer. I am so fortunate that the breast cancer is completely gone. However, I'm finding it very challenging to figure out what I can eat to not aggravate my inflamed colon as it starts to heal. I have been losing weight and I'm concerned I'm not taking in the proper nutrients. Any suggestions?

“Diabetes and colitis”
@karenps Hello! I just reread your post and my response to you regarding your diagnosis of diabetes as a result of immunotherapy. That was about a month ago at the end of July. Have you been able to find an endocrinologist &/or a certified diabetes educator plus a nutritionist for help with this?
Now a month later it looks like you have also been diagnosed with colitis. I know very little about this but I can only imagine that good nutrition is equally important to that condition as to your diabetes. It must be concerning that you are losing weight and are unsure how to eat for these conditions! If you haven’t already done so could you get referrals from the diagnosing provider for a nutritionist who has experience with your conditions? After all you do need to eat and want to be sure that you’re feeding yourself well for the conditions you have!
