PPI use and side effects
My doctor told me to take dexlansoprazole in the morning for chronic nausea when nothing else worked. Well, not so nauseas as before, but now have a bad acid taste in mouth all day long. Not seeing dr for another month. Any ideas or suggestions. Was taking pepcid twice a day but now only at night. Thanks.

PPI ‘s are only meant for short term use , a few weeks or a couple months . Dr’s keep prescribing for years though .
You can google it .
Btw, ilean good luck with your condition. Can’t you ask Dr. to explain more clearly?
I was on waitlist for 4 months then it took 3 more months to get appt then a month to get into Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. They picked my Gastro for me . Had 3 tests done in 3 days . Cost a lot of $$$ in out of pocket and cost $900 to stay 3 nights up there . Same diagnosis I had prior . So Dr. Didn’t know what to do for me .
That surgery def had pros and cons . I can’t do that surgery. Good luck to you !!
Not sure I fully understand but sorry sounds tough. Right now Jacksonville wasn’t even taking a waiting list for me unless I got a phone incorrect answer.
So what do I take to clear up my chronic gastritis?
I’m going to ask my doctor about this.
Maybe try magnesium supplements or rub in magnesium cream. Works wonders for cramping !!
Hi Bosch 17.
I am sorry you are experiencing the symptom. Unfortunately I am as well. I am on 40 mg and have all the side effects you mention. I am on day 11 of a 30 day course . I had a cholecystectomy 5 weeks ago and have been in agony with Epigastric and abdominal pain since.
I agree with whoever said the PPI,s are for short term use, and I am very frightened that my symptoms are not relieved completely by the PPI’s.
I am wondering if anyone tried lecithin and or slippery elm for your gastric symptoms or naturopathy?
Look at DGL, but check with your Drs first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ,someone mentioned that to me once>
Keep calling Mayo Clinic Jacksonville to get on waitlist. Took me a long time then waitlist a long time , then 3 more months to get appt . 7 months total .
I went 3 days testing out patient and Dr. Was no better than previous Gastro Dr’s . I’m a medical mystery for 9 years. It’s horrendous!
so sorry...
