I am 60 years old and am having trouble with memory loss with atypical facial abnormality. I just discovered my forehead has two dents in it, Does anyone know anything about these dents?

@crystalclear Hello and welcome to Mayo Connect.
Most of us have "dents" in our foreheads where the bones join, they just aren't very noticeable.
What did you mean by "atypical facial abnormality"? Is this a diagnosis from a doctor, or a reference to your bone structure?
Also, how recent is your memory loss, and have you seen a doctor about it? Have you had a recent illness or started a nedication that may be affecting your memory?

Sue,
Thank you for reaching out to me. This all started one morning a few months ago. I woke up with tremors and could hardly stand. I went to the ER and they told me my blood pressure was very high. They did a CT scan of my head and found a “dead spot” in my brain. I was sent to a neurologist who noticed the atypical facial abnormality. I have had this a long time. I think it is muscle related. I have had memory loss for a long time also. I would say three years on both the facial abnormality and memory loss. The neurologist did a memory test on me and put me on a medication for memory loss.
The dents in my forehead are new. I’ve never noticed them before. This is why all this concerns me.
Thanks again for the reach out Sue,
Crystal
Hi @crystalclear, I added your question to the Brain & Nervous System support group.
As @sueinmn's questions suggest, a new dent or bump you notice in your skull can indicate a serious medical condition. This is the type of symptom that should be checked out by a doctor, especially if the shape of your skull appears to change suddenly.
Have you talked to your neurologist about these recent dents you found? I'd like to know what you learned from your doctor.
Hi Colleen, I haven’t spoken to them yet. I will do it tomorrow. I was hoping to find some answers here before I sound like a paranoid patient Monday.
I will let you know what I hear tomorrow. Thank you for checking in with me.
That was a good idea to get ideas from the community. You're not being paranoid, just aware. I hope this conversation helped to give you the confidence that this is an issue worth looking into. 🙂
And, yes, please let me know what you learn.
Thank you and yes, this actually did give me the strength to say something. I don’t want to go in there with something silly, ya know? I will call her first thing tomorrow. 🥰
