Dental Implant Headaches

Posted by arnieb37 @arnieb37, Dec 31, 2018

Started getting headaches 2 months after dental implant. Doctors cannot find any underlying reasons. I suspect sensitivity to the Titanium, but can't find anyone to do MELISA blood test (for immune system reaction to metals). Anyone else have headaches symptoms after dental implant? Any suggestions?

@arnieb37 There is a lab in Chicago that tests for implant sensitivity from a warm blood sample that you ship to them. Here is the link. https://www.orthopedicanalysis.com/ If you do have an immune reaction to the titanium, you can contact the Environmental Health Center in Dallas, as I think they have some treatment options. They do also sell medical volumes for doctors and this practice was founded by a pioneer in the field. See https://www.ehcd.com/ You may also want to look at https://www.aaemonline.org/ where you can find out more about environmental medicine and I think there is a page to find a physician. I hope that information helps.

Jennifer, thank you very much for your reply and suggestions. I could not find a lab in the U.S. that does this testing. I have sent them a couple of questions and will be sending them a blood sample.

@arnieb37 You're welcome. I hope they can help you. Another cause of headaches that might get overlooked could be If you have any alignment issues with your jaw, neck and spine that cause muscle spasms as a source of headaches. These are in specific places like the back or side of your head and you would be able to find a tender muscle that hurts to press on. I had an old whiplash injury and had surgery at Mayo a couple years ago. I have been having headaches for years because of muscle tension in my neck, and I also have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome that contributes. Physical therapy helps if it is a muscle or alignment problem.
