Anyone been diagnosed damaged bone marrow due to iron overload?

I have been diagnosed hemochromatosis and now have had anemia the last 3 years. Doctors have not addressed anemia or thought the anemia may be a red flag. Has anyone been diagnosed damaged bone marrow due to iron overload? Thus, causing a low red blood cell production?

One of my good friends from high school 50 years ago has hemochromatosis and has for years. We were recently comparing since I have PV. I have blood draws every 6 weeks. She said she used to have them regularly but is down to only once or twice a years. Best of luck to you.

Welcome to Connect, @ennoid54 Hemochromatosis is a disorder where your body absorbs too much iron from the foods you eat. Excess iron is stored in your organs, especially your liver, heart and pancreas and can lead to serious health issues.
This condition is often hereditary and passed down in the genes. But there is Secondary Hemochromatosis which can be caused from other underlying medical conditions.
Do you know if you have a family history?
