Cyst on Pancreas?

Posted by faithann64 @faithann64, Feb 25, 2021

So recently i had a CT Abdomen Pelvis w/ Contrast and they found a cystic structure to arise on the Pancreas . Said it could represent a serous/mucinous neoplasm. Anyone knows what that means ??? Thank You. ( 57 year old male.)

Thank You. I have constant stomach pain and back pain. Anything i eat is an issue. Problems with swallowing, bloating etc. I'm scheduled for upper endoscopy on April 9 2021. Hopefully they can get this figured out. No Fun.

I'm not remembering if you still have a gall bladder? They will look at that too! They will figure it out for sure. Your endoscopy will help them. Keep us posted. Do you have a support person or persons? You likely won't need anyone but it is always good to have an advocate when you have surgery.

Well I heard from my Gastrolologist nurse today. They ordered a MRI Protocol of the cyst on my Pancreas, Whatever that means. ( Because of the cyst that showed up on my CT Scan of the abdomen. ) Getting kind of nervous.

Teresa is saying exactly what I would say. Gary has MRIs every 6 mo. It is a very good idea to watch cysts. Hope you have a clean one. If you have never had an MRI before, read about it on Mayo. It's not a big deal to do..the results are definitely worth it! I have stage 4...end stage...liver disease. I get them every 6 mo. too. I have a cyst on my liver they watch. Don't be too worried...you are amongst friends!
And in good hands....

Yes, MRI machines run all the time. I've had MRIs on the weekend as well. While I'm sure you want to get past this part of your diagnosis, how are you feeling these days?

Hello @faithann64,

This sounds like the appropriate next step in discovering more about this cyst. MRIs tend to give more info than CT scans do and don't use radiation. After your MRI results come back your doctor should be able to give you more information and decide on the next step.

I've had MRIs for my pancreatic cysts for several years now. So far, there have not been significant changes. I hope that your MRI works out well for you.

Has your MRI been scheduled yet?

Getting a second opinion is a great idea, @faithann64. I hope that your new family doctor can give you a referral. You definitely need to understand this finding and know what you are dealing with.
Will you keep posting and let us know how you are doing?

In 2012 I was told I had a cyst on the head of my pancreas, biopsy showed it was non cancerous but still needed to have whipple surgery.
After the whipple was preformed the pathology report came back and showed it was pancreatic cancer, early detection is key. It's been a bumpy ride but it's been over 9 year and I'm still here enjoying life. I was 60 when first diagnosed.
