Anyone have stereotactic body radiation therapy (CyberKnife)?

Last year, when I was radiated for Prostate Cancer at the Mayo with Proton Beam therapy, they did not have CyberKnife. Have they added it?

Yes, I had Cyber-Knife at Georgetown. It was successful, and it's done in 5 sessions instead of 39 or 40. Recommend you look at the videos on CyberKnife. It's amazing technology.

Any residual side effects? Any limitations on exercize afterwards?

Any type of radiation will have side effects, on anything related to the prostate gland. I believe it's less with CyberKnife, but you'll have a ask your doctor. I didn't notice anything at the time, and I kept up my exercise routine without any limitation.

Please share side-effects attributable to Prostate Cyberknife procedure. I had the procedure years ago, and have had too many problems in the region to attribute any to that so far successful treatment.

This issue can be very confusing. Cyberknife is actually a form of SBRT radiation. You receive a higher dose of radiation given in 5 sessions as opposed to 30 to 40 sessions with traditional radiation IMRT. The latest form of SBRT is MRIdian. This is SBRT given with real time MRI images of the target area. This technology reduces the margin of error from 7-8 mm down to 2mm. Also the machine shuts off if your body moves off the target causing less chance of healthy tissue getting radiated. Also did not need Space Oar prior to treatment. I had mine done in June 5 sessions over 10 days at Brigham Women/Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. Only about 35-40 places in the country have this machine. I really had minimal side effects and continued to do my exercise routine during treatment. Do your due dilligence and check out MRIdian. .

How many treatments will you be getting?

Five treatments scheduled.

I had Proton SBRT @ Mayo Rochester in 9/2000; 5 treatments over the course of 10 days. PSA has been < .01 since, getting tested in a few weeks. No problems except 0 sex drive and an incredible shrinking penis. 75 y/o.
