CRPS and Amblyopia and elevated ANA Titer

Posted by awareofangels1967 @awareofangels1967, Aug 27, 2021

I have had a few symptoms of SLE including an elevated ANA Titer (at one time 1:1280 but last tested was much lower but still abnormal) since I was 16 and I am 53 now. I have congenital ambyopia (with strabismus sx 2 times) and was diagnosed with CRPS in my right hand following 2 separate injuries. I am just looking into possiblities that all 3 are related. My Pain Management Dr thinks that the CRPS is not auto-immune but since both are "brain problems", I still wonder.

also, i might mention that the amblyopia is hereditary.

Hello @awareofangels1967

It is difficult to have multiple diagnoses and not have an overall answer. I did find some information relating some of the conditions you discussed.

Autoinflammatory and autoimmune contributions to complex regional pain syndrome: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6125849/

The Prevalence of Autoantibodies in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type I: https://www.hindawi.com/journals/mi/2015/718201/

Have you sought a second opinion from another physician?

The Ortho or Pain Mgt Dr (dont remember which and btw, I refused pain meds - Im sensitive when people hear Pain Mgt they think druggie but not me) anyway, one of them didnt think it was related to the auto-immune but I still wonder. I did read about the autoantibodies so I may do a little more research on that. Thank you so much for the links and I will look at both of them. I just kind of left it alone after I was told it wasnt related but I think ill check into it more. Thank you again. I had not even thought of the correlation between the CRPS and the strabusmus/amblypoia both being a brain problem until Mom made the connection. Throw in the autoimmune and Ive got my work cut out for me. My concern is not for me but for my family and future generations.
