CRPS

Posted by gus0557 @gus0557, May 12, 2025

Hello,
Has anyone been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 2? I was just diagnosed with it today in my entire right shoulder on top of my peripheral neuropathy. I might going for a Peripheral Nerve Stimulation implant since there is evidence of nerve damage as the cause. Any insights from anyone?
Thank you and take care,
gus

@asteeleks I’m sorry you’re going through this.

One thing I’ve learned while researching CRPS is how important it is to have the diagnosis confirmed using the Budapest Criteria by a physician familiar with the condition.

Many patients spend years trying different pain management approaches without ever discussing all of the evidence-based treatment options available internationally.

Even if someone ultimately decides not to travel for treatment, I think understanding every available option allows patients to have a much better conversation with their own specialist.

Wishing you the very best.

Hello @crpsneridronate, Welcome to Connect. Thank you for sharing your experience. I was not familiar with the Budapest Criteria for diagnosing CRPS. Since new members are not allowed to post links for a short period of time, I thought I would share a few references for others who may not have heard of the criteria for diagnosing CRPS.

How long have you been dealing with CRPS?

Hey John, I didn’t mean to violate any community rules. In fact, I created an account when I came across this post to reply. So, please don’t mind. Eight years ago, when I was first diagnosed with CRPS after wrist surgery, I went through a very difficult journey. Since then, I’ve dedicated some time to raising awareness for other patients in pain. Thank you for sharing these links, and I appreciate your time in acknowledging my response.
