CPPD
I was diagnosed with CPPD in my neck - C1 & C2. It s called pseudogout. It is extremely painful all of the time. I’m on Eliquis & can’t take NSAIDS. I was on Prednisone for 8 days & another 8 days. It didn’t work, so the rheumatologist started me on prednisone for 18 days, starting with 30 mg a day for 3 days & tapering. I also take 1/2 ,6 mg of Colchisine with it. I’ve taken both for three days & no relief from pain yet. I have no pain anywhere else. I am 85 & woke up with the pain in February 2025. I’ve tried chiropractor, PT, steroid shots, 6 different painkillers, Voltaren, Biofreeze., heat, & ice packs.. I am frustrated. Does anyone have experience with this. It was diagnosed with MRI’s & CT.

Hey Roxanne, Praying for you. I am so sorry you are battling so much pain.
I was wondering if you have been to a spine pain clinic specialist? They can do different type of injections and give you a prescription of compounded pain cream that may take the edge off.
I do not have what you have but have a lot of arthritis and fibromyalgia that keeps me in constant pain (especially in my spine some days) and the cream has helped me tremendously. Mine is not an opioid or narcotic cream, but Lidocaine, Flexeril, Gabapentin & Voltaren Gel (Diclofenac) in 5% & 2%. These creams can be customized for you....even by a Neurologist. I cannot take oral NSAIDS (Motrin, Advil or Aspirin) but I the Diclofenac (Voltaren Gel) very well.
God Bless You and give you relief.
@covidstinks2023 Thank you for your kind words. I have been to a spine dr & had steroid injections, but it didn’t help.
The rheumatologist increases prednisone from 30 mg a day for 3 days, then taper over 18 days. After
3 days, no relief, so increased it to 40 mg for 5 days & then tapering. This is working. Also includes Colchisine with prednisone. Hope it continues to work. Thank you for your thoughts!
