Cotton mouth?

Posted by januaryjane @januaryjane, Aug 19, 2023

Any ways you deal with dry mouth? I've found Halls lounges to work the best for me. But I don't want to rot my teeth out! Lips are an issue as well. I hydrate and keep applying aquaphor, but it seems like a losing game for me.

I also have a dry mouth. My dentist recommended using Biotene. It comes in mouthwash, toothpaste. and gel. I use the gel before I go to bed at night and it really helps. Might want to check it out.

@januaryjane Ugh, dry mouth. I even find it difficult to talk when my mouth is dry. Have you tried ice chips when you’re at home? NOT to chew on, just to suck on. Chewing on them can really damage your teeth. And like @lasks suggestion of Biotene products. Also Memorial Sloan ]Cancer Center has some helpful suggestions.

Is this dry mouth new for you? Have you discussed it with your doctor?

Puritan's Pride Vitamin E moisturizing stick for your lips. Amazon is sold out right now, but, perhaps Swanson.com may have them. They are better than anything I have ever tried. I hope this helps you. Blessings & Prayers.....

Xylitol breath mints. Recommended by dentist. Any product that doesn’t contain petroleum products for dry lips. Plus plenty of water…

I use all the Biotene products as my dentist told me 30 years ago that most toothpastes have a drying agent in them that will cause dry mouth. He said that Biotene products don't. I am 79 and have problems with dry mouth but Biotene spray helps a lot and I use it to help me swallow a pill.
I have had multiple surgeries and the anesthesiologist encouraged me to use the spray before anesthesia. I don't know of anything that will eliminate dry mouth but these Biotene products really help.
Good luck

Does anyone have dry red or peeling lips constantly with tiny red blood dots. I’ve had this for a year and have seen two dermatologists no help. They tried steroids creams or meds that I am allergic to. Now only using med Vaseline. But nothing us stopping this. Happens every day with skin hanging from lips. Seeing another dermatologist in October.
