Constant left and right flank pain

I had started having severe left flank pain about 5 days ago that kept getting worse leading me to see the ER and PCP. They ran urine and blood, only thing they found was slight blood in urine. I didn’t have a UTI but elevated Creatinine test slightly.They did a CT that found nothing, no Kinsey stones. I went home and rested and felt like it got a little better (but still constant soreness/discomfort) until I started feeling worsening pain on my right side that then felt like it’s in both sides now. What should I do next? Go the doctor again? I’m confused and unsure if I should just wait but it hurts to twist and move. I also have Lupus

@kellyb7 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! It certainly doesn't make your day very comfortable, does it?

Several years ago I had very similar symptoms to what you described. As a chronic kidney disease patient, I went to my primary care doctor's office. Unfortunately he was on vacation, so an associate saw me. He claimed there was no such thing as a kidney infection. But that indeed is what it was. I was put on a strong antibiotic. On recheck, the infection was still there, my regular doctor was back, and he told me the course of antibiotics was correct but not enough time. So, he extended the course of them and everything cleared up.

I suggest drink plenty of water, and revisit your doctor.

@kellyb7 I'm with @gingerw on this. Many years ago I had symptoms in which the nurse practitioner insisted I had the flu (I had a fever by this time) or a UTI. I was treated with antibiotics but as soon as I finished the antibiotics the symptoms of fatigue, fever, and pain came raging back. I had a kidney infection. So, I agree with @gingerw. Your symptoms call out for seeing your doctor. I'd advise you to be persistent as something is not right and you know your body the best.
