Congenital stapes footplate fixation

Is there anyone on here that has bilateral congenital stapes footplate fixation of the stapes tendon as well? I have a Stapedectomy scheduled August 23rd to hopefully shave down the footplate and insert a prosthesis in my left ear. If the surgery is successful, I'll hopefully have my right ear done as well. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there with the same abnormalities as I?

@sdeering20 I have otosclerosis which caused my stapes bones to fail and block the oval window into the cochlea. I haven't heard the term "congenital stashes footplate fixation" but it sounds exactly like what I had. I had my 1st stapedectomy almost 20 years ago and then the 2nd stapes needed the same procedure about 7 years later. So I have titanium stapes 'bones' in each year. Both surgeries went well other than some bleeding the following week. But my discomfort from what I remember was no longer than a week each time. No problems since. Because I have mixed hearing loss (conductive with the stapes and sensorineural) I was told the hearing loss would continue to deteriorate, but at least I could hear something and hearing aids and assistive technology have taken care of my loss until recently. Let me know if you have any questions.

Mike
