Comments about CBD and/or THC for neuropathy pain and paresthesia?

Posted by amkie @amkie, May 25 10:09am

Anyone tried CBD topically or THC gummies or anything on that order for the burning radiating pain of neuropathy? Also has anyone had a neurologist suggest this as a potential therapy? I will ask my own neurologist but wanted some broader input in the meantime. Success anyone? My family thinks this should be considered. I have tried various topical and oral prescribed medications with little success so far. Thanks for any comments.

I use both CBD 100mg 4x day and THC 25mg 4x day to reduce my breakthrough pain from OA, spinal stenosis, chronic pain syndrome so I no longer need oxycodone. I’ve been using turmeric 500mg 3x day and it has helped to reduce my foot and ankle symptoms from PN. I’m using tincture mostly which permits exact dosing.

I only too 5mg of CBD twice/day!

I have also started curcumin (Moss CurcuSelect) and am trying to figure out which is causing my dizziness.

Tinctures tend to help me because I am so sensitive, and can start with a very low dose. I will PM you @jenatsky

I live in Texas medical marijuana is not an option for me.
Yes, my neurologist said he would recommend it for me.
Listen to Dr Anne Oaklander a research neurologist. She brings it up in one of her studies. Have I tried it yes when I visited Colorado and California. I have asthma and can’t smoke. I did an edible.. I slept all the way through the night. I took an indica 10 mgs. Currently, we are stationed in Germany and when we come back looking at Colorado Springs. I am allergic to over50 different medications so it’s hard on me. The only opioid I can take is OxyContin and oxycodone by KVK tech. Malimkoft I am allergic too.

Thank you for your response. You have a lot to deal with. I would never consider the smoking variety, cannot imagined doing that to my lungs. So ingestible or topical would be my choice but still collecting info before I consult my neurologist. he is pretty cautious because of balance disorder I have that my not be all related to neuropathy.

I have severe axonal sensorimotor polyneuropathy.
SFN, CAN- cardiac autonomic neuropathy ( you are given approx. 8 years left to live because they can’t control your heart rate beats too slow or fast. I have problems with blood pressure it was high for two weeks cardiologist put me on blood pressure meds then my pressure dropped I passed out then it went back to normal). I have tremors in my legs and hands from the motor neuropathy my husband has to cut my food and I can’t drink out a bottle of water or glass without it ending up on the front of me. I am 62 years old I don’t want to be elderly and overdosing on pain meds. Marijuana has been shown to cause nerve regeneration.
That’s why I suggested Dr Anne Oaklander’s lecture on YouTube. There has been a lot of research by Israel and other countries on it.

Thank you. I will revisit Anne Oaklander's work which I came across early on but forgot about in the
fog of information overload when something like this hits your life.

I have SFN with autonomic dysfunction. I got two types of gummies from a certified dispensary in Massachusetts. I use 100 THC as needed for pain and 100 THC for anxiety as needed only at night. Both have helped tremendously with my sleep. I do not take them all the time, just when needed for pain or anxiety. I also don't take both together on the same night. I do not like the smell of marijuana, so I cannot smoke it. The gummies are flavored, but I can taste a slight hint of the cannabis, so I chew them enough to swallow them to avoid the taste of the cannabis. I am glad I gave it a try.
