Anyone use the Coloplast ostomy belt? I'm having issues with it
Hi all,
I recently switched from using Hollister urostomy bags to Coloplast ones. Coloplast sent me samples for the two piece bags which I am now using. In the samples was the belt, part number 1215. The belt was supposed to have a clip for the holes in the wafer on both sides. This is what the Coloplast website shows. The belt I received had a clip on one side and a slot on the other side. I called Coloplast and was sent 2 more belts with the same configuration. A clip on one side and a slot on the other. When I ordered from my supplier Bryan, I got the same configuration, one side clip other side slot.
Has anyone who uses Coloplast had the same problem? I’ve contacted two people at Coloplast about this and have not received a good response, I have even sent them a picture from the website showing the clips on both sides. I feel like I am speaking a different language to them. I have taken a Holister belt and was able to modify it to work. I should not have to do that, but I can’t get Coloplast to understand the issue.

@piki Thank you for the effort. It appears I just received a belt that was assembled incorrectly. Everything is good now.

1 Reaction@weatherguy6 Thanks. It looks like I just received a belt that was assembled incorrectly. Opening the others I received were good enough though the description says they only have one tab.

1 Reaction@westendal Thank you. I think the first belt was the only bad one. Initially I did modify a Hollister belt to use. It appears the other belts that I received have two tabs even though the description says they have only one.
Great; glad problem's under control.
Two years ago, I had an ileostomy for 6 months. I used a belt with tabs (hook shaped) on both ends. These clicked into slots on the patch. The patch was supported (i.e. kept stuck to my body) by the belt--but the weight of the pouch still pulled on the patch. I didn't feel secure. So I wore 2 pairs of underpants and tucked the pouch between them--a sort of sling to support the pouch from the bottom. (I sewed the leg openings of the underpants together so the pouch wouldn't slip out downwards. I left the tops open. )
Also, I got up very early every other day, and before eating or drinking anything, took off pouch and patch, had a soak in the tub, then put on new patch and pouch. Even then, small bowel contents would sometimes come out, but never enough to prevent putting on the new patch and pouch. Luckily for me, the ileostomy was reversed. I hope you'll get some management ideas from my experience. Ostomies are definitely a test a character!
I used Byram as my supplier and Coloplast brand. Overall, Byram gave me good phone support. Also, I could order exactly which bags, belts, etc. I wanted. There were pictures on the website.

1 ReactionI have been using the coloplast belt for over 3 years. Mine has little groves that attach to the loops on the bag. They work perfectly and Zi have no completes with it.
