colonoscopy - Generalised Errhematous and granular mucosa

Posted by tripletx @tripletx, Dec 10, 2023

Hi, I had haemorrhoid banding done 5 weeks ago and was still noticing blood in stools 3/4 later, this prompted a q fit stool sample test which came back positive - I had a colonoscopy done two days ago in which they noted Generalised Erythematous mucosa and Generalised Granular mucosa in rectum. They did biopsies which i am still awaiting results and a note on bottom of impression of solitary rectal ulcer/mucosal prolapse syndrome. It said NO SINISTER PATHOLOGY. I had a hysterectomy done six months ago which i don’t know may have any connection! I’m very anxious and would like some advice or opinions - Thank you

Hi @tripletx, the words used in such reports don't always sound good, but the phrase "no sinister pathology" is a good result. Seeing the results of one test or a few tests doesn't give you the full picture. Once you have the results of the biopsies, your doctor will look at all the test results along with your medical history and current status to rule out and/or confirm a diagnosis.

I know it's hard not to worry. But the worry into action by writing down your questions for your doctor. When do you expect to get the results of the biopsies and to meet with your doctor?

I’ve to go back and see him on 21st December and the secretary said she will ring me earlier if they come back earlier! It’s the wait that is so hard, the wait for the colonoscopy and now wait for biopsies. I’m hoping and praying 🙏🏻
