Cologuard test positive: I'm terrified

Posted by char21 @char21, Dec 18, 2025

Just had a positive test. I have been having bleeding for years. I know it’s my fault, I am 67 and terrified. My gastroenterologist appointment is January 8th

I totally agree especially
PET scans but it really takes a lot to get insurance to approve. I just had colon cancer removed from my transverse colon that had no idea was there until colonoscopy found it. I couldn't believe it. They say no further treatment needed because had not spread but close observation and genetic testing to be done. Prayers for everyone facing this disease of cancer. I was a oncology nurse for 15 years but never thought I would get it.

@musicjewishcarp2008 I understand that! My cancer was found thru a colonoscopy as well after they found I was still anemic after a hysterectomy which showed stage 1 for uterine. They made me do a colonoscopy and endoscopy and found a huge bleeding mass on my right colon. 43 of 48 lymph nodes were infected. I had no symptoms. Stage 3c in 2023. Now I am stage 4 when 8 months after treatment it cane back in my vaginal area. Oy ve…. I really hope it’s not in my thyroid. I seem to not follow a script with this! And if it’s coming back while on treatment does that mean the treatment isn’t working?! I need to make it 3 more years!!!! I refuse to not see my son graduate college!

If one mix of chemo doesn't work they will offer you another mixture. Talk very bluntly with your oncologist about your goal . Don't give up. Pray, put yourself into His hands ask for specific guidance . Take it one moment at a time. Enjoy each day and be thankful. We ALL are terminal.

@musicjewishcarp2008 this is the second form of chemo for me…. I don’t react to others they tested me against in blood work. They have an additional one to add (avastin) as a hail mary if it stops working she said a few months ago. I pray so hard. My family and friends are trying to tslk me into ivermectin, but my dr said thats dangerous stuff to try while on chemo. So maybe if all else fails…. Any thoughts on that?

@myjiggers1, I'm sorry to hear that your family and friends are applying some pressure for you to try an unproven medication. There's a lot of information as well as misinformation circulating about ivermectin and its use as a treatment for cancer. It is possible that they have read claims, including from celebrities like Mel Gibson, of ivermectin curing people of cancer. Here's a clear and well-written article about repurposed drugs being researched for cancer.

- Separating fact from fiction: repurposed drugs in cancer treatment https://www.anticancerfund.org/en/blog/separating-fact-fiction-repurposed-drugs-cancer-treatment

Like your oncologist, Mayo Clinic experts warn against the use of ivermectin for cancer. Here's additional information that Mayo Clinic experts would like you to know:
- Mayo Clinic on use of ivermectin or other dewormers to treat cancer https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/newsfeed-post/mayo-clinic-on-use-of-ivermectin-or-other-dewormers-to-treat-cancer/

Important
It is NOT safe to take ivermectin used in veterinary medicine. Please continue to coordinate with your doctor before taking any over-the-counter medications or supplements that claim to fight or cure cancer.

I saw some info on YouTube about that but I agree with MD that it is unproven and dangerous. Give the proven meds time first. Ask your oncologist about any trials for new meds that you might qualify for. Help your body by good nutrition, walking, and plenty of resting and watching funny joyful shows, movies to lift your spirit. Of course praying and seeking to be at peace with everyone is important along with forgiveness of everyone, even if deceased.
Release all resentments,
hold no grudges. I try to do all this and it is hard but healing. Smile and fix yourself up for yourself. DONT let your imagination run wild. Tell your body "LIVE". I and my friends will pray for you. Please pray for me too.

@musicjewishcarp2008 thank you so much! I will pray for you! I just joined a gym… afraid to walk inside alone still but I will get there. I am better at taking care of others than myself. I do need more sleep. I will work on that! Laughing is in the bag… its an inherent part of me and regardless of how bad things get I always have a reason to be joyful ❤️ bless you

@myjiggers1 please avoid ivermectin- not proven safe…there have to be other treatment options…keep pressing docs about that.
