Collagen for osteoporosis?

Posted by cpb @cpb, Jul 26, 2021

My friend's medical doctor has her take collagen for her bones. I decided to try it and wondered if anyone knows more than I do about this.

@lamd

Also, are you taking 5g or 10g?

I put one scoop - 10g in my morning coffee.

Good luck. I hope your score improves also. Interesting that you take 10g. I am not sure, but I understood 5g to be a sufficient dose. Osteocollagen pep which was referenced by others on this site is a 5g dose and only includes fortibone. Maybe the lower dose would be easier on the stomach.
Good luck in April!!! And, thanks for sharing. I really appreciate it.

Hi @maureenanne
I realize this post is from 2023. I am considering Osteoporosis Collagen Pep with fortibone and am very interested in hearing if you were successful or not. Also, did you experience any side effects? Thanks

Hi, @lamd, I just had a bone density done last week. They measured my spine and wrist (they can't do my hip because I have fractured both of them). Anyway, results were a mixed bag. Very happy that spine density increased by 10.4%! However wrist decreased by about the same amount, so go figure! I must say that I also started strength exercises, just dumbells at home, and have made huge changes to my diet. I will continue with the collagen pep as I had no side effects at all. I have tried a couple of other fortibone products and find dr Mccormick's to be the best. Best of luck to you!

Hi @maureenanne
Such good news regarding your spine density increase, that is quite a difference, so happy for you on that. Not sure I understand how one area can go up, while the other goes down, but as you say, exercise may help. Your results and other research has convinced me to give fortibone a try, for sure. I have started some weight bearing exercise also. Exercise helps in so many ways. Thanks for your help. Stay in touch as we travel this road! I wish you well.

I like chocolate milk, so one of my go-to drinks is eight ounces of lowfat milk mixed with some Ovaltine and a tablespoon of collagen peptide. It's a nice little calcium/collagen drink, and you can't taste the collagen at all.
