Hi, @dunbun13 - I'm tagging some members who are familiar with colitis to offer any input on your colitis getting worse and on whether they take a prescription for this condition @fionadiane @keona619 @billie3 @astaingegerdm @dianagump @cgent @petepat3234 @dval @helenfrances @suzanne2.
dunbun13 - when you say your colitis is getting worse, what symptoms are you experiencing that are worsening?
I go from Diarrhea to Constapation a lot more than when I was first diagnosed several years ago. I am seeing my Rheumatologist on Friday and was wondering if there are meds for this and if so is anyone taking them?
I take lomotil when I get uncontrolled diarrhea. Every day I take one omeprazole in the morning.
@dunbun13
I had collagenous colitis- I would take Imodium and Lomotil before I would leave the house. Once diagnosed I got methotrexate for a month which definitely stabilized the diarrhea. Once in a while in the years since, I get a relapse, but not as severe.
What is your diagnosis?
If mine gets really bad my gi dr puts me in a course of prednisone. There are several biologics that you can go on. Humira is just one of them. I’ve gone in something called 6 mp. It worked very well for me. Then once I was in remission I was put on a maintenance medication for a few years. Now I’m on no meds and get a colonoscopy every other year!!! Hope this helps. Your gi dr knows what’s best for you. Call asap.
I take cholestyramine, after 2 years my symptoms are almost gone. I don’t take it as often now.
