Does your doctor think the cobalt level is due to one of your implants and should be monitored?

I'm sorry to say that if you have metal-on-metal hip implants, there will be chromium and cobalt continuing to move into your body until the old hips are removed and replaced with non-metal hip cup & ball.
There is no medication which will remove these metals - only removal of the source (the cup and ball of the implant) and then time for your body to eliminate the metal through blood, liver, kidneys and urine. About a year after removing and replacing the old parts, blood is back to normal. This is called revision of the hip replacements.

I had a hip replacement and 2 years later that type was recalled due to metal from it getting into blood. Cobalt and chromium levels should be almost zero. Mine started out around 2, then went up at each year’s test. By year 6 after the hip replacement those levels were doubling. I went to three surgeons. Two said they would replace it when I started having symptoms, or when they felt it was necessary. The original surgeon said he would replace it right away because those levels kept rising. He said no amount was a good amount.
A metal blood test a month after surgery showed levels at almost zero.
Why wait for hair loss, confusion, brain damage? My level was above 7 when I had the revision. The worry about it is gone!

Medicine cannot clear the chromium and cobalt from the blood. And it will continue to rise as long as the metal hips are there. The metal hips must be removed, and replaced with ones not made from chromium and cobalt. There can be very serious results from too much metal in your blood, and some of the damage can be permanent.
