Cobalt knee replacement appliance and metal poisoning
I am scheduled for a knee replacement in a few weeks and have seen and read reports regarding metal shedding and internal poisoning from said cobalt ball. My ortho doc uses such an appliance ( found out yesterday) and it concerns me. A lot. Any feedback on this?

It is quite common for orthopedic surgeons to think they are "done" when the initial wound is healed. Maybe you can ask pain management or neurology to refer you to a sports medicine orthopedist - these docs focus more on restoring function than protecting their surgical reputation. There you can get some more complex imaging done to see where else the problem might lie.
Here is another question - has someone evaluated your hips and spine to see if there is a different source for the pain?
Unfortunately once knees have been replaced, most orthopedic doctors don’t want to get involved with another’s work. In these 4 years I have been to every kind of P/T possible, kinesiologist, currently seeing chiropractor, getting massage, had acupuncture, (going to a different acupuncturist 9/11) underwent GAE. And everything else imaginable. Pain management diagnosed CRPS, I don’t believe that is correct, I know someone who actually has it. My last 4 years have been researching and pursuing any treatment. I had hoped for Mayo, declined twice. I am lost and wonder if I have metal reaction. Thank you for listening and your suggestions.
