CLL patients needing other non related surgeries or procedures
I want to know if it endangers a CLL patient to have other surgeries and medical procedures unrelated to CLL?

Hello, @rosamund Having Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) can weaken your immune system, especially if you’re in treatment for the disease. Because of that, there is always a little more of a risk for infection if you have surgery.
However, your oncologist can help pre-surgery by taking a look at your current blood condition. If your blood counts are within normal range, especially the WBC, the infection fighters and the platelet level for normal clotting you would most likely get the go ahead for surgery. Your oncologist may recommend a prophylactic antibiotic or one to follow after surgery.
Have you spoken to your oncologist about the possibility of elective surgeries?
