Hemorrhoidpexy does not remove hemorrhoid and only to treat internal hemorrhoid. My procedure was hemorrhoidectomy in which the surgeon removed both internal and external hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoid recovery doesn’t hurt much. External hemorrhoidectomy is another story. The surgery was quick and not so much painful until I had my first BM. Even with MiraLAX and senikot, it was still very painful. The first BM felt like the wound was ripped apart. I’m glad I did it, but had I known it was going to be that painful, I don’t know if I could go through it. The pain level is the same as when I woke up from bilateral mastectomy without pain killer yet! But mastectomy you can use pain killer to manage it and you don’t need to bother it. After hemorrhoidectomy you still need to have BM! So every time you have a BM, you feel that pain until the wound heals, probably in 2weeks according to others. But it gets better after the first week. My surgeon says it takes 2 months to recover! I’m lucky to have a good surgeon. It could have been even more painful if the surgery had been a mess. When I asked one patient about the pain level on scale 1 to 10, he said 12!
