Chronic Constipation and Miralax (or Restoralax in Canada) Side Effect
Does anyone have intolerable side effects from Miralax? E.g. severe bloating and cramping. (The opposite of its advertising). Even one dose. So many people seem to be able to use this laxative on a long term basis problem-free. Interested to hear from those with miralax issues. I do have IBS.

@viola2 if what @pami suggests doesn’t work, try Metamucil - or generic psyllium fibre found in health food stores which is cheaper than Metamucil. If you take generic psyllium fibre make sure it is the whole husk kind, not the very fine psyllium powder, which gels immediately, even before you get to drink it. I take two tablespoonsful a day, but I suggest you start with a teaspoonful and work your way up to two tablespoonsful. It takes two or three days to work.
What @pami suggests sounds more pleasant, but I find the psyllium fibre works best for me. Eating six prunes a day, however, would be more convenient, and definitely a more convenient and pleasant alternative to Metamucil/generic psyllium fibre or Miralax (Restoralax in Canada).

2 ReactionsYes from Restorolax. It does work for me after 2 doses but I get severe pain which lasts for a few days and headache. I do have IBS and diverticulitis so maybe that is why.
I have no tolerance for Miralax. I have found that a half cup of very warm prune juice and/or yellow dragonfruit do the job for me. If I have neither, then Linzess.
Both green and gold kiwifruit effectively relieve constipation by increasing bowel movement frequency and reducing straining, often performing better than fiber supplements without causing gas or bloating. While both work, green kiwi is generally considered slightly better due to higher fiber content and more actinidin, an enzyme that helps break down protein and aids motility.

Key Findings for Constipation:
Recommendation: Eat two peeled, fresh green or gold kiwifruits daily for up to four weeks.
Green vs. Gold: Green kiwi contains more fiber and actinidin; Gold is sweeter, softer, and often preferred for flavor or if you have digestive sensitivities.
Mechanism: They are rich in soluble and insoluble fiber, which hold water, and actinidin, which aids digestion and aids in loosening stools.
Why they are better than prunes: Studies suggest they are equally effective but cause less bloating and gas, leading to higher patient satisfaction.
Skin: Eating the skin boosts fiber content, but it is not required for a beneficial effe

4 Reactions@peterose I also suffer from chronic constipation. One thing that seems to really help me is to lie down on my stomach and then rotate side to side every 5 - 10 minutes. This seems to help loosen everything.
