Chronic abdominal pain radiating to back and tailbone for 2 years – CT
Hello everyone,
I am seeking guidance regarding a chronic pain condition I have been experiencing for about 2 years.
The pain initially started on the left side of my abdomen and gradually began radiating to my upper abdomen, chest, back, shoulders, and tailbone.
Pain characteristics:
- Dull/aching, sometimes burning
- Migratory (moves from one area to another)
- Present most days
Triggers:
- Pain worsens after meals
- Pain increases with stress
- Pain sometimes worsens after sexual activity
- Certain foods seem to aggravate symptoms
Relief:
- Light meals or fasting
- Warmth and rest
Associated symptoms:
- Occasional bloating/gas
- No weight loss
- No fever
- No vomiting
- Bowel movements mostly regular
Investigations done so far:
- CT scan of abdomen: NORMAL
- MRI of the spine: NORMAL
- Routine blood tests: normal
- USG: normal
No structural abnormalities have been found on imaging.
I am not seeking a diagnosis, but would appreciate guidance on:
- Whether this pattern could suggest functional or nerve-related pain
- Possible involvement of the gut–nerve axis or visceral hypersensitivity
- Which type of specialist might be most appropriate to consult next
- What type of further evaluation, if any, might be reasonable
Thank you for your time and insights.
