Crohn's? IBD? IBS?

Posted by judibrab16 @judibrab16, Dec 6, 2011

Please help. I've always thought I had IBS. But it can be so severe with pain so bad I lose consciousness and awake to drained bowels, extreme sweats, and not knowing where I am. This has been going on intermittently for many years. I live with it.
I have developed arthritis. Can this be associated with Chrone's disease?
I have also thrown up green bile.
I have pain in my upper abdomen right now, with bloating, distention, and no sign of an active bowel movement. It just sits and hurts.
I have taken Dulcolax and Gas-ex. Nothing helps.
Anyone else out there with similar experiences? Please share.

Thank you, but making that call is not so easy. I am one of the millions with no insurance. I went to the hospital the last time my IBS was this bad. There were no answers for me except meds that I could not afford. In my 12 hour hospital stay, I incurred a $6,000 bill that I will pay on for many years. To be seen again, I would have to file bankruptcy. But again, thank you for replying.

I've had severe abdomen pain with uncontrollable nausea for over 5 yrs now and they still can't figure out what's wrong with me! With me they said the blood tests ruled out IBD and Cronh's. I have severe pain everyday, but mine starts in my lower stomach area and always goes to the left side. If you get any answers please post them as I am desperate for answers. Good Luck

I'm sorry for your illness. I too, am really struggling. Such awful pain. I have not slept or hardly eaten in 2 days. Mine as well is in the lower stomach/upper abdomen. Bloating, burning, cramping. No otc meds help.
I don't have insurance, so relief and diagnosis won't come from a doctor.
I guess I am relying on people who have "been there". I recently tried some "Ultimate Flora" 80 billion probiotics. -the result; more gas-more pain.
Good Luck to you too. If I find ANYTHING I will let you know.

stop all fluids for 48 hours and rest in bed for this entire period. There was a boy of 18 years how had IBS for last 4-5 years he got relief by this 3 years back and is still fine. He got relief from mouth ulcers and leg pains as well after this. Do make sure that u drink 1 glass of water 1 hour before lunch and dinner. Restrict ur water and other fluid intake to 2-3 glasses in 24 hours after giving up fluid for 48 hours.

You sound like me before gluten-free. Painful trapped gas. Stop eating gluten and you will be amazed how fast you recover. Try just one g-f meal and if no bloating or trapped gas, voila, you have your answer.

Thank you. I will try this. I feel better than I did when I wrote of my ailments, but I know it will be back with a vengeance if I do nothing about it . I appreciate everyone's advice and concern.

A diet with high intake of red meat or poultry might be counter-indicated for Crohn's disease.
