Chest congestion concern

Posted by tuckades @tuckades, Jun 3, 2023

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a tight feeling in my chest, like i had a 'catch' that i couldnt get out, no pain, but I started having a dry cough that did not produce anything, no mucas, no phlegm, nada.
Fast forward a couple of weeks, the tightness is still there but now when I breathe thru my mouth (not my nose), there is a deep rumble, congested sound in my chest. You can hear it rumbling as if I was fully congested like a small child with a bad cold. I will wake myself up choking / gasping for air at night, I assume do to me mouth breathing. I now have lots of coughing, producing phlegm, that really looks like spit, sometimes foamy-ish, no blood though. Coughing is pretty consistent and can be severe enough to make me vomit sometimes.
However, I can breathe thru my nose, slow and steady, very deep breathes with NO deep rumble in my chest, no rattleing, nothing. I do not have nasal congestion.
I am confused as to how I have this congestion in my chest but it mainly affects breathing thru my mouth. What can cause this and how can I alleviate it?
I have made an appointment with my doctor but they cannot get me in for two weeks.
