Chemo/Radiation before Surgery
January 2024 — Diagnosed with borderline resectable distal cholangiocarcinoma. The first phase of neoadjuvant therapy consisted of 5 cycles (10 infusions) of GEM/Abraxine/Cisplatin. The scans before chemo and the second set of scans (after two cycles/four infusions) did not show any metastases. We’re preparing for the next recommended phase of therapy — chemo/radiation for 4 to 5 weeks before surgery.
Does someone have insights into the frequency of radiation treatments and the chemo comprising this next phase?
Any thoughts about questions for the radiation oncologist would be appreciated.
Thanks — Dan
