Cervical Stenosis

Cervical stenosis

Did cervical stenosis prevent any of you from having a biopsy? I’m 75, and two years ago I saw a gynecologist because I was spotting and had pelvic pain., my endometrial thickness is 5mm. My gynecologist did some testing but stopped after the internal and external ultrasounds telling me she couldn’t get enough tissue for a biopsy and to come back if the symptoms persisted. The symptoms persisted and the pelvic pain worsened. I found another gynecologist and she tried to do a biopsy in her office and in the hospital. Both attempts failed. She referred me on to an oncology gynecologist who also attempted a biopsy in the hospital. She said I have cervical stenosis and scheduled a hysterectomy which happened on 10/21. I’m waiting for the pathology results which are due around Thanksgiving.

I’m hoping to find someone with a similar experience. My oncology gynecologist feels that there is very little chance of cancer, which is great news. But what’s causing the symptoms? Could it be cancer?

Failure to obtain an endometrial biopsy because of cervical stenosis is extremely common. It may be more common than success. There have been several threads discussing this.

There's no point worrying until you get your pathology results back. But it really shouldn't take anywhere near a month to get the results. IMO a week is more reasonable.

It’s good to know how common it is. Thank you for your reply.
